Martin's Mill Bridge Park

October 23, 2023 -- Martin's Mill Bridge Park is one of my favorite places to take Ty. The park is in Greencastle, so not far to drive. There's a dog park nearby. We usually go there after visiting Martin's Mill. The park is never crowded. The road through it parallels the Conococheague Creek. It's a scenic drive, especially in the fall. There's a covered bridge. You know how much I like covered bridges.

Martin's Mill Covered Bridge is the largest lattice type bridge in Pennsylvania. It contains approximately two-thirds of its original timbers. The 205-foot long bridge was built in 1849. It had to be rehabilitated in 1973 after being carried downstream by Hurricane Agnes.

Rehabilitated in 1973.

Ty went swimming for the first (and only time so far) at Martin's Mill Bridge Park. There's a section of the creek that is wide, deep and easy to access. I threw him in several times. Of course, he had no trouble swimming, doing the doggy paddle. But I think he prefers wading and playing in the water to swimming. I want to go tubing on the creek with him. I'd put a life jacket on him and pull him along. Not sure how he'll like that.
