Mountaintop haven for dogs

Ty enjoyed the trip to New Hampshire, but had the most fun at Dog Mountain. I was able to let him off leash. He ran, met new people, played with other dogs, and splashed in a pond. He got soaked, but dried off after we went on a hike with others.

Dog Mountain is a private mountaintop spot in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. It is open to people and their dogs. It was about 35 miles from the Basin in Franconia Notch State Park. There is no entrance fee, but I made a $10 donation. Dog Mountain features hiking trails and dog pounds. Leashes are optional. There is also a Dog Chapel and art gallery (dog-themed, of course).

The Dog Chapel was built in 2000. Its creed is "Welcome, All Creeds, All Breeds, No Dogmas Allowed."
