Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon

September 15, 2025 --Fjaðrárgljúfur ("feather river canyon") is a canyon in Southeast Iceland. The Fjaðrá river flows through it. The canyon has steep walls and winding water. It is up to 330 feet deep and about 1.2 miles long. It is located near the Ring Road, not far from the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Its origins dates back to the cold periods of the Ice Age, about two million years ago.

Formed by erosion and flowing water

Waiting patiently while I walk farther

Justin Beiber filmed a video here

Not a bad picture of me

Fjaðrá river flows through it

Always sheep grazing nearby
