September 10, 2023 -- On one of our many visits to Gettysburg, Mom and I stopped at Devil's Den. Devil's Den is a rocky, boulder-covered hill located below Little Round Top. It was the scene of heavy fighting on the second day of fighting, resulting in devastating casualties on both sides: more than 1800 Confederates and 800 Union soldiers.

According to legend, Devil's Den was so named for a large snake that lived in the area and couldn't be killed.
