The Big Five: Buffalo

There may be as many as 48,000 African (or Cape) Buffalo in Kruger National Park. The population has increased since I visited in 2015. The large bovines roam the savannahs and river valleys of the park in small to large groups. They are considered one of the most dangerous species in the park. Sometimes, they will charge without provocation. Their fierceness is why they're part of the Big Five..
