The Apache Trail

Mom and I flew to Phoenix to visit Aunt Ginny. We drove the Apache Trail (State Route 88), a rugged , rugged 42-mile scenic drive through the Superstition Mountains and Tonto National Forest. The scenery was incredible. Part of the drive was unpaved. The whole time, Ginny kept saying "are we there yet?"  Mom seemed to enjoy the drive from the convert of the air conditioned car.

While Mom and Aunt Ginny waiting by the car, I hiked up to see the cave dwellings (Tonto National Monument). They were occupied during the 13th, 14th, and early 15th centuries, then abandoned.
