Sabbaday Falls

Sabbaday Falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in New Hampshire. It is a multi-tier waterfall system located along Kancamagus Highway in the White Mountains. It was an easy 0.7 mile forested hike to the falls. There was a boardwalk and steps at the falls. Instead of doing a loop, we walked the same way back along the brook.

The main drop

At one time, the Sabbaday Falls were named Church Falls after a landscape painter. The current name is derived from Sabbath Day. The falls feature a unique mix of glacial carving and ancient volcanic activity. They began forming 100,000 years ago. The gorge and tiers were carved out roughly 10,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age.
