Zamek Chojnik

Chojnik Castle (Zamek Chojnik) sits atop Chojnik Mountain, overlooking Jelenia Góra, Poland.  The castle wasn't far from one of the places where we lived, but I recall it being a long, somewhat strenuous hike to get to the top. The tower was still in good shape. Otherwise the castle was mostly in ruins.

The legend of Chojnik Castle centers on the beautiful but cruel Princess Kunegunda, who would only marry a suitor who could ride a horse around the castle's dangerous, cliff-edged walls. Many knights died attempting this impossible feat, until one succeeded but rejected her after being shamed by her cruelty. Heartbroken, Kunegunda threw herself into the abyss.
