The Farm Inn

The Farm Inn in Pretoria was the headquarters for our international conference on worm control. It was a neat place to stay. Plus it had a game farm to explore. I checked in early. They allowed it, though I didn't have any money since my money, along with my passport had been stolen at the airport (when I arrived).

My roommate was Lisa W. (from the University of Georgia).  My colleagues were very kind to me, helping me out with money. I was able to pay my hotel bill using my brother's credit card number. That was probably the last nice thing he ever did for me (that's another story and one I won't be sharing on my blog).

According to the Internet, the Farm Inn closed during Covid and has since undergone renovations and been rebranded as Silverlakes Farm Hotel. It still has wildlife viewing (you'd never know from its web site), but looks a lot fancier. I'm glad I stayed when the experience was more rustic.
