Bunratty Castle and Folk Center was our next visit. Bunratty Castle is a large 15th-century tower house in County Clare. It was last restored in 1954. There is also a 26 acre folk park, with buildings meant to represent a 19th century village. There is a beautiful wall garden and various animals to interact with: cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, and donkeys. This was the only place I saw goats while I was in Ireland. Lara was happy; she got to see her "hairy" (Scotch Highland) cows.
The two story Bunratty house was built c. 1805. It is now a museum. Hazlebrook is a mansion house that was built in 1898 and moved to Bunratty Folk Park in 2001. It was the home of the Hughes family ice cream makers.
