Falling Waters

July 14, 2023 -- There can't be a more appropriate name for water falls than "Falling Waters."  This fairly small waterfall is located in Falling Waters, West Virginia. It is fed by a stream of the Potomac and was a short hike from the road.

Falling Waters was the site of two Civil War battles. The 1861 Battle of Falling Waters (also known as Hoke's Run) was an early clash in the Manassas campaign (Patterson vs. Jackson). The 1863 battle was the final engagement of the Gettysburg campaign. Lee was able to escape the Union and get back to Virginia.
