The Olympic Village

China hosted the 2008 summer Olympics. Shortly before our visit in November 2008, they opened the Olympic Village up to tourists. We saw the Bird's Nest. It was the stadium where most of the events took place. Inside the stadium, there were displays of all the costumes that performers wore during the opening ceremonies. Despite all the people in the stadium, we managed to find the few English speakers. We didn't go inside the Ice (or Water) Cube. It was the aquatic center where all the swimming events took place. Michael Phelps won eight Gold medals in the cube.
