Agrodome

December 6, 2016 -- The Agrodome is a farm theme park in Rotorua, New Zealand (on the North Island). It was founded in 1971 (by a shearer and a farmer) and is a major tourist attraction. It was on my bucket list of things to see in New Zealand. We went.

The show was both fun and educational. It featured 19 different breeds of sheep, all "Champion" rams. They were in full fleece. They came out one by one. The Merino was on the top pedestal, as it is the most important breed of sheep in Australia and the world.

The dogs featured in the show were Huntaway. They are a black and tan dog. They run across the backs of sheep and have a loud, deep bark. In New Zealand, they are more common than Border Collies for herding sheep.
