Pikes Peak's summit has an elevation of 14,115 feet above sea level. The song "America the Beautiful" song has been associated with Pike's Peak. I drove to the summit of Pike's Peak in 1985. It wasn't far from Colorado Springs, home of the United States Air Force Academy. My travel companion was Rachael P. (RIP), a college friend.

Weirdly I recall having a bowel movement at 14,100 feet. I probably had a bit of altitude sickness. After getting to the summit, I didn't want to linger. The best park of Pike's Peak was the drive up and down. Lots of switchbacks. Spectacular scenery.
