September 12, 2024 -- One of the stops along Ocean Path in Acadia National Park was Thunder Hole. Thunder Hole is a carved out inlet along the rocky shoreline. When the waves roll in, they force the water up as high as 40 feet. This did not happen when we were there. All you could see (and hear) was a gurgle.
Experience the thunder of the sea (or not)
The first time we visited Thunder Hole, the tide was out. When we came back closer to high tide, there still wasn't much happening in the hole. The sea was calm calm. Too bad. It would have been neat to see the phenomenon. Despite the lack of activity, Ty didn't want to sit too close to the hole. He must have felt something. Either that or he just wanted to sit in the middle of the steps, so people would have to acknowledge him.
