An engineering marvel

July 2024 -- The Falkirk Wheel is another place I visited instead of the Highlands (due to Covid). It is the world's first and only rotating boat lift. It lifts boats 79 feet. It opened in 2002 and connects the Clyde & Forth Canal with the Union Canal, which connects Glasgow with Edinburg. Previously it took 11 locks to connect the two canals.

Falkirk Wheel is an engineering marvel. Nowadays it mostly serves the tourist industry. While I didn't take a boat ride, I walked all around the place. I took a taxi back to my hotel to pick up my luggage. It was too far to walk. Then, the taxi took me to the train station where I boarded a train for Edinburgh to begin the final leg of my trip.
