September 17, 2025 -- Iceland is known for pools, geothermal pools powered by geological activity beneath the earth's surface. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most popular tourist attractions. We chose a quieter, less touristy option: Mývatn Nature Baths (Jarðböðin) in North Iceland near Lake Mývatn.
So warm, so comforting: I'm never getting out!

The North's version of the Blue Lagoon
There were two pools. We tried both. In the main pool, the water temperature was 96.8 to 104°F. The smaller pool wasn't as hot. The outside air was very cool. It snowed while we were there. Just flurries. The sun was also setting. It was very picturesque. Getting in and out of pools was a chilly endeavor. We didn't get anything from the pool bar.
